Visual literacy is a vital element of everyday society, with much of our surroundings owed to the vision and craftsmanship of the creative professions. Have you ever considered that from the clothes we wear to the houses we live in- all of these necessities started life as an artists or designers creative vision?

In the Art department we aim to provide all students with an exciting and in depth introduction into the world of Art and Design. Students are supported to develop and explore their creative potential within a thriving department where the subject popularity is at an all-time high.

At Byrchall we pride ourselves on providing an Arts experience that nurtures both natural and developing talents. Students are supported by three highly motivated subject specialists who's in depth skills provide a well-balanced and motivational platform to progress.

The Art Department consists of three members of staff: Two full time, one part time working across two fully equipped Art rooms. The department also boasts a fully functioning ceramics area, brand new glass fusing facilities and has fully equipped photography facilities.

The Art Department regularly organise enrichment activities both within and outside of school, including an Art residential to Anglesey and a photography trip to Liverpool as well as visits from external artists to deliver specialist workshops. Extra-curricular activities include specialist glass fusing workshops and a lunchtime Art club, which is open to all pupils.
